Precision filters, also known as security filters, are generally installed before pressure vessels to remove fine particles with turbidity above 1 degree, in order to meet the requirements of subsequent processes for incoming water; Sometimes it is also set at the end of the entire water treatment system to prevent small particles (such as broken resin) from entering the finished water.

The precision level of the filter cartridge installed in the precision filtration device can be divided into 0.5us, 1us, 5us, 10us, etc. Different filtration accuracies are selected according to different occasions to ensure the accuracy of the effluent and the safety of the subsequent membrane components.

Function and purpose
In order to prevent suspended particles that are not completely removed or newly generated during pretreatment from entering the reverse osmosis system, and to protect the high-pressure pump and reverse osmosis membrane, a filter cartridge type security filter is usually installed before the reverse osmosis inlet water. Generally, aperture sizes smaller than 10um are used, but can be designed to be 5um or lower depending on the actual design situation.

The precision filtration device is mainly composed of a filter housing, a filter element, etc. The filter housing is mostly made of R304 stainless steel material. If used in special occasions such as acid and alkali resistance, R316 stainless steel can be used as the housing. It can be divided into flange type and clamp type, and flange type casing is mainly used in situations with high filtration flow. The filter element installed in the middle of the filter housing is mainly made of PP filter cotton core, and in some cases, a wire wound filter element or activated carbon filter element can also be used.

The inlet and outlet water of the security filter should be equipped with pressure gauges. When the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet water reaches the limit value during operation, the filter element should be replaced in a timely manner. Due to the low cleaning and recovery efficiency of the filter element, disposable filter elements are used.
